This fine old Citamba mask is an initiation mask that represents a spirit found in nature.   Made of rattan, bark, cloth, fibers and resin these masks are usually destroyed after each ceremony, making them quite rare.   With fantastic expression and surprising 'soul' (brought out in vegetal fibers no less) the enclosed is Ca. mid 20th Cent.
