Shaman's Mask

This is a striking mask from the middle hill region of Nepal.  Worn by the village shaman the mask would be used to protect the Buddhist faith from evil spirits.  Painted and repainted the work is adorned with a goat hair goatee and moustache as seen.   With excellent old patina the mask has superb expression.
