This is a magnificent ancient Shamans mask from Nepal.  Reminiscent of it's southern Mahakala cousins the enclosed is quite fierce at first glance, with it's toothy open mouth.   Upon a second look, the row of dancers that have been ingeniously incorporated into the brow design begin appear.  As seen then, the dancing figures render this mask quite engaging.  Everything about this mask happens under a banner of superb patina with the glossy ancient surface heightening every aspect of the work.   Ca. 19th Cent.
