This old Mumuye Iagalagana figure is classic in presentation with elongated features, enlarged ear lobes and wonderful dynamic tension in it's posture.  Carved by blacksmiths and weavers these engaging spirits are kept in special huts and serve as apotropaic figures for family groups.   With red ochre's still remaining the enclosed is of hardwood and Ca. late 19th / early 20th Cent.
