This is a Yoruba ritual kola nut bowl - Agere Ifa.
In the form of a chicken, which represents a form of divinity in Yoruba art, the bowl has two carved open work elements draping from the rim on either side.
With excellent patina the bowl does have a few small losses to note: one on the base and the other on one of the aformentioned draping elements (the small square terminal on one of the forms is lost).
