This fine Senufo K'pilie mask was collected in the field by Karl Heinz Kreig, a noted German ethnologist.  Of a more archaic style that commonly seen the mask has a beautifully balanced design that, with it's bent legs and long sweeping horns, almost looks like a stylized human figure taking on a dance pose.   An encrusted surface and excellent patina add to the mask's subtle power.
